Who are we

Rainforest Carbon Remove Society is a not-for-profit society committed to the preservation, management and creative business management of rain forests in Belize Based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, the founders of Rainforest Carbon Remove Society have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of global warming on the precious forests in BC. Ravaged by the pine beetle, much of our forests stand dead, unable to participate in the natural cycles that promote clean water and air production.

Carbon Remove is involved in several projects in Belize and hopes, through public support and funding, to further advance our vision of sustainable rainforest management, eco-sensitive business development and preservation to save the rain forests

Ron Dewhurst, President and Director

Warm greetings from Ron Dewhurst. My career in technology and business development spans 30 years, from co-designing an internationally recognized residential development to co-founding a highly successful “Next Generation” telecommunications company.

I've written for numerous trade magazines and have been a guest speaker at industry conferences to present my innovative business activities. Currently I am involved in numerous ecological business initiatives in Belize. Founding Rainforest Carbon Remove Society was inspired by a spiritual and ecological vision that is so critically needed for our future generations.

Carrie Dewhurst,  Treasurer and Director

Artist, business entrepreneur, mother and recent grandmother, Carrie is the spiritual mentor and creative spirit behind Rainforest Carbon Remove Society. Concerned about her children and their children, she devotes her time to fighting rainforest insects and traversing remote rivers in search of untouched regions and pristine beauty. An admirer of the stillness of life and simplicity, Carrie feels everyone needs a little quiet time in the rainforest to shed their false attachments to things of little or no spiritual value.

Jennifer Halloran   Executive Director

Although new to the industry, Jen has received an honours degree in Environmental Studies with a focus on sustainable development and incentives from Wilfrid Laurier University. During her university experience Jen was the sustainability director for the environmental organization known as the Laurier Ecohawks. Her position entailed creating and starting up the first composting program for the university residences along with setting up the “eco take-out” container program; this consisted of replacing standard containers which are thrown away after a single use with reusable take out containers that can be washed and re-used through the schools program. During one of her summers, Jen travelled to Indonesia to volunteer for Operation Wallacea which is an organization that has volunteers work with scientists to research the biodiversity within protected hotspot locations.

Jen joins Rainforest Carbon Remove Society to drive both economic and social initiatives to help rainforest countries to ensure bio-diverse ecological forests are saved from impact of non-supportive social and economic systems. On the side Jen enjoys her time with horses which stemmed from her competitive side in the jumper ring of the equestrian circuit and her experience with horse rehabilitation.
